SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY

Built in the 18th century, the property has low doorways and uneven slate slab floors. Please take care - you will need to duck and watch you don't trip over your feet! Unfortunately, Buarthau isn't wheelchair friendly.

The twin bedroom has a particularly low doorway (4ft 10 inches), which gives access directly onto the stairs and is considered unsuitable for the very young or elderly guests. A stairgate for this doorway is available.

There is a bathroom with a toilet, sink and standing shower cubicle on the ground floor. There is one bedroom on the ground floor. This bedroom has an adult size bunk bed. The head height once you're in bed is restricted and the top bunk is accessed via a 4 rung, fixed ladder.

The property can be very dark at night as the area has virtually no light pollution. There are several light sources provided in all the rooms so they can be as bright as you want to make them. 2 plug in night lights are provided - one to light the corridor between the bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. The other is in the ground floor bedroom. Torches are also provided in every room in the unlikely case of a power cut.

Please ensure you are familiar with emergency procedures and Fire Management and Escape Plans, provided in the handbook. Fire extinguishers and fire blankets are in place and there are 3 routes for you to exit the property in an emergency.

There are unfenced rivers and streams and old trees on the property.

Buarthau is located off a single track road, which is steep at some points. In extreme weather conditions, there is a potential that the property may not be accessed by vehicles. We will advise the holidaymaker immediately if we become aware of any potential vehicle access challenges.

To get to Buarthau you need to drive across an old bridge which has a weight and width restriction which allow for a transit van to get across but nothing larger.

If you are unsure as to whether Buarthau will meet any specific accessibility or safety requirements you may have, please get in touch via the form on our contact page and we will do our best to answer any questions.
